Paralysis (2017)
Reina made the film “Paralysis” about her personal experience with sleeping patterns. She used watercolor ink to create the kaleidoscope like patterns that appear in the middle of the film. The pattern sequence begins with a light blue design to mesmerize but then becomes dark and more hostile feeling. This is similar to what happens when she wakes up in the middle of the night and experiences a form of sleep paralysis. The watercolor ink was dripped onto water and filmed from above. The background in the scene where the girl is waking up from her bed was half hand drawn and half digital. Reina also created her own sound design for the film.

A Sudden Friendship
This is a stop motion experimental piece. I wanted to learn more about using clay and developed the characters of the girl and the shapeless creature. In this short, it is about finding and developing friendship with those who are different from us.

Reverie. (2014)
In this piece, the boy is experiencing artist’s block. His creativity is stymied, represented by the dullness of the room he is sitting in. The message is about finding inspiration, which may mean looking outside of the immediate environment and your own thoughts. In this case, he finds a portal from which to step into the outside world.
